Gene replacement

Besides gene deletion, the tools we have been developing also enable us to replace a target gene with another gene of interest without changing the initial genetic environment. For instance, we are able to replace a gene of interest with a bioluminescent reporter gene, such as the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), the luxCDABE operon, or the mCherry fluorescent protein and thus to study directly the modulation of gene expression, without resorting to real-time PCR technology but quantifying the light emitted.

Example of achivement:

      - Replacement of a virulence gene of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 strain with the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) coding gene
